16GB is the minimum for comfortable development work. If you run Docker, VMs, or multiple heavy IDEs simultaneously, 32GB is recommended. For data science or ML workloads, consider 32–64GB.
For most software development, a dedicated GPU is not necessary. Integrated graphics handle coding tasks well. However, machine learning, game development, or GPU-accelerated computing benefit from a dedicated GPU.
